THIERRY MAUCCI DOUBLE TRIO (20/03/2016) 18:00
Anniversary concert celebrating Thierry Maucci's 40-year career.
« Play, evade, play again. You always seek the moment of truth and it is necessary that the situation (including the audience, its aura, its influence) could contribute to it; and often you find something you like, you give yourself up to it. Play the game, bend the rules from where you start. It is an anniversary for an all-out birthday and to bring up the past in the present. » Thierry Maucci.
Gold medal in saxophone from the Conservatoire of Nîmes in 1976, Thierry Maucci later became a member of the GRIM (Improvisation and Music Research Group) in Marseilles. If André Jaume, Evan Parker or Barre Phillips remain his early influences, he shaped a solid originality for himself over the years. Since his first music group "Est-ce Bien Raisonnable ?" (ECBR), he built on encounters with many jazzmen of all backgrounds and performed with Barre Phillips, Louis Sclavis, Evan Parker, André Jaume, Ahmad Compaoré, Christian Brazier and Famoudou Don Moyé, among others. Thierry Maucci discovered solo music following his works with contemporary dance. A fulfilling experience that gradually lead him to solo performance, with no other intermediary factor. He has composed and collaborated with choreographers Odile Cazes and Jackie Taffanel. He teaches at the Studios Decanis in Marseilles and proposes masterclasses in the form of residencies in the Alpes de Haute-Provence. Thierry has recorded twenty or so albums of which the latest "Cool Bird" was released in 2015 by Underground Jazz Club Production.
