JARAWA PROJECT @ Festival Jazz à Luz (15/07/2017) 21:00

Improvised jazz concert as part of the 27th edition of the "Jazz à Luz" festival.

Creation in partnership with the JAZZDOR Festival (Strasbourg), the TRIBU Festival and Zutique Productions (Dijon).

The trio Jean-Louis, with its nutty « jazzcore », revealed some fifteen years ago trumpet player Aymeric Avice and his electric guitar-style distorted sound. This musician has never stopped surprising us since, with of course an amazing jazz culture and practice, as many musicians from his generation. For this creation, he chose to surround himself with Jarawas from different ethnic groups: around the great wizard Daunik Lazro, we'll find Phocaean drummer Ahmad Compaoré, regular partner of Fred Frith, Dutch guitarist Jasper Strahouders like him open to all kinds of musical adventures, and eclectic bass player Jean-Philippe Morel. An intergenerational casting that clearly calls to mind but mostly sharpens curiosity and much more. The gamble to launch a creation has been obvious, with great expectation and great eagerness.

Aymeric Avice: trumpet, laptop
Ahmad Compaoré: drums, percussion
Daunik Lazro: tenor & baritone saxophone
Jean-Philippe Morel: double bass
Jasper Stadhouders: guitar
