INTERCONTINENTALS @ Festival de Marseille (18/06/2017) 18:30
Ethno-jazz concert as part of the 22nd edition of the Festival de Marseille.
A live concert featuring an unusual combo: three guitars and a drum set. A human adventure, a journey to discover Africa. Alongside guitarists Wim Welker, Aurélien Arnoux and Jérémie Schacre, Ahmad Compaoré - an explorer of new musical forms - invents a personal world that, without irony nor detachment, manages to reunify the different genres. A work on textures, conversations with grunge tones and the use of metallic strings will take you far beyond the immediate impact. A drawling, melancholic and vibrating sound, mainly influenced by guitarist Bill Frisell, but also Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman or Ella Fitzgerald, extending the roots of blues to achieve a contemplative poetry. Honey for the ears: a great moment in sight, and not only for the 6 or 12 strings enthusiasts!
Wim Welker: slide guitar
Aurélien Arnoux: electric guitar, loops
Jérémie Schacre: electric & acoustic guitar
Ahmad Compaoré: drums, percussion
