DUO BERROCAL & COMPAORÉ @ Festival JSLV (16/11/2013) 21:00
Experimental jazz concert as part of the 8th edition of the "Jazz sur la Ville" festival.
A production by Lo Liame and La Boîte à Musique.
In the unbelievably rich world of Jazz, if one had to remember just one figure it would certainly be Ornette Coleman, innovator of the free jazz movement. A musical style moving forward towards its destiny, in which the very word "free" contains the idea of spontaneity and transgression. An influence claimed by Jac Berrocal and Ahmad Compaoré, and fundamental in their respective career.
The first ever encounter between two generations of improvisors. One, avant-garde trumpet player and visionary poet with a highly sensitive style, both tender and violent. The other, prolific drummer and committed artist, with a playing both energetic and subtle. Their scenic performance is placed at the crossroads between free jazz, punk and sound poetry, with some incursions in primitive music. This exceptional concert will propose to witness in action two musicians capable of stretching the limits to create nonstandard jazz, unpredictable and uncompromising, with an equal talent for experimentation: that is, another way to apprehend music...
Jac Berrocal: trumpet, voice
Ahmad Compaoré: drums, percussion, sampler
