DUO PAUVROS & COMPAORÉ @ Festival Nozart

A first duo as part of the 15th edition of the "Nozart" festival.

A born improviser, guitarist and composer Jean-François Pauvros has played with musicians such as Elliot Sharp, Arto Lindsay, Jac Berrocal, Keiji Haino and Rhys Chatham... For the past 30 years, he has collaborated with avant-garde poets, film makers and choreographers. His taste for musical and human encounters, which lead him to form the most improbable and cosmopolitan groups, can only find and maintain its unity when sustained by an original and continuous inspiration.

Of Egyptian and Burkinabé origins, drummer and composer Ahmad Compaoré is a musician of freedom. A rare improviser, he confirms his singular talent alongside Fred Frith, Marc Ribot, Otomo Yoshihide, Barre Phillips or Egyptian choreographer Karima Mansour. With a constant craving for exploration and discovery, he shares his creativeness between music, dance, theatre and digital art. Free from boundaries, he equally enjoys the most extreme experiences in alternative and improvised music, jazz, fusion and world music.

BOLINO & COMPAORÉ

Artistic performance imagined by Le Dernier Cri with La Boîte à Musique as part of the Cargo Friche.

Each 3rd Wednesday of the month, an artist invited by the Théâtre de Cuisine proposes a visit of the building site... This is the opportunity to invite the public, the workers and the residents of the Friche to attend an artistic encounter. This is also the wish to build together a story common to this site, by participating to its transformation. A few weeks before moving into their new premises, Pakito Bolino and Ahmad Compaoré invite you to enter the building site: a CARGO PRINT awaits you together with a projection of picture excerpts from the book BADAFOTO and a live soundtrack by Ichiba Daisuke... A baptism by fire DERNIER CRI!

A proposal by Théâtre de Cuisine, in partnership with Système Friche Théâtre, SCIC-SA Friche Belle de Mai and the restaurant Les Grandes Tables.

Pakito Bolino: video, guitar
Ahmad Compaoré: drums

NAFAS

NAFAS means « breath » in literary Arabic. Ahmad Compaoré, Fred Pichot and Sylvain Terminiello have imagined a present-day music, eclectic and mixed, transcending cultures and social belonging. Spontaneity and complicity are the key words for this trio which proposes a set around the Mediterranean, free jazz and Africa, for a music reinvented at each concert...

Ahmad Compaoré: drums, percussions
Fred Pichot: saxophones, flute, samplers
Sylvain Terminiello: electric bass, double bass

La Mensuelle musicale

28/03/2012 at 20:00

LA MENSUELLE MUSICALE

Sounds of Marseille presents the 1st edition of "La Mensuelle musicale".

This first edition will be presented as a "pre-edition" : a kind of happening that will pay tribute to music and its origins. An essentially "black music" repertoire, we will therefore be carried deep into an atmosphere where jazz, blues and soul are celebrated. Interaction between the insiders and the audience, but also encounters between artists from seemingly different backgrounds... Blossoming of styles or genres, convergence of live musical trends in an atypical setting. This happy crowd will gather to share its love of music in a cosy, warm and friendly atmosphere.

- Landoni Brothers (Blues)
- Na.cy (Jazz)
- Soul Ladies (Soul) with Ahmad Compaoré (drums), Jeff Kellner (guitar) and Sylvain Terminiello (bass)
- DJ set with the DJs of TPF

Catering available on the premises (African dish).

FEE: 7€

DUO HOSDIKIAN & COMPAORÉ

Jazz concert as part of the exhibition of the works "Délires de mon imagination" by Henri Fiore.

Edmond Hosdikian is a musical chameleon, recognized as one of the most creative saxophonists of his generation, thanks to his obvious technique but most of all by his generosity and his vital need to share a true emotion. Musician of freedom, spirited drummer and percussionist Ahmad Compaoré explores the subtlety of rhythms with a trained hand, showing a near fusional mastery of the instruments he uses. This evening, they propose an interplanetary free jazz repertoire, totally improvised, for a dialogue both suave and unbridled.

Edmond Hosdikian: saxophone, larsenophone
Ahmad Compaoré: drums, percussions

FEE: upon invitation only
